Silay City Mayor Jose Montelibano and Mayor Julier Resuello expressed their desire to strengthen ties of friendship, mutual understanding through exchanges in science and technology, culture and arts, tourism, planning and urban development, commerce/trade and industry, education and sports development, environmental protection, public health and social services, among others of common concerns.
Montelibano said that Resuello together with Vice Mayor Joseres Resuello is bringing 120 contingents to Silay City composed of department heads and barangay captains to observe the City’s best practices and notable projects.
Resuello thanked Silaynons for giving them an opportunity to interact with the key officials of Silay in their offices.
The best practices of Silay include free transportation for students and pupils in upland barangays, mangrove rehabilitation, blood banking, medical missions, local civil registry program, PNP retraining program, children immunization, anti-rabbies vaccination, livelihood program, tax collection, cooperative organization, art-culture-tourism development, health card distribution, senior citizens assistance program, environmental program, computerization, agriculture and livelihood, rural electrification program, among the many other programs of the city.
San Carlos City in Pangasinan is a second class city with a population of 161,884 people with 86 barangays and is called the ‘Bamboo-Mango’ capital of the Philippines.
The guests will be entertained by the world-renowned Kabataang Silay Performing Artists and Rondalla Ensemble. the tasting of hometown delicacies is also part of the cultural presentation.
According to Silay City press coordinator Gerle Sulmaca, the tour itinerary of the guests include visits to the Silay City offices, sight-seeing at Balay Negrense and a trip to Fresh Start Organics farm which practices and promotes organic farming.
