SM City Rosales celebrates National Children’s Book Day

ROSALES –The SM City mall here will celebrate National Children’s Book Day on June 20 with several activities geared towards promoting the love for reading among children.

Some of the activities lined up include digital storytelling with celebrities, book mascot parade, literary exhibits, book donation drive, and “writeshops” for children’s literature.

Through the SM Supermalls’ Corporate Social Responsibility program, 35,000 brand new books will also be distributed to several public schools nationwide. This project is undertaken in cooperation with the Department of Education, the National Book Development Board, the Department of Social Welfare and Development, and Vibal Publishing.

The Philippines’ National Children’s Book Day is celebrated every 3rd Tuesday of July, in commemoration of the publication of Dr. Jose Rizal’s “Ang Pagong at ang Matsing” (The Turtle and the Monkey) at the Trubner’s Oriental Record in London.
