Pagasa warns of flash floods in north Luzon

MANILA, Philippines — A low-pressure area near Pangasinan province threatens to trigger flash floods and landslides in Northern Luzon, state weather forecasters said on Saturday afternoon.

The Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said the LPA was estimated in the vicinity of Pangasinan as of 2 p.m.

It also said a monsoon trough is extending across Luzon.

"Luzon and Visayas will experience cloudy skies with scattered rainshowers and thunderstorms becoming widespread rains over the northeastern section of Northern Luzon which may trigger flashfloods and landslides," it said in its 5 p.m. bulletin.

Mindanao will be partly cloudy to at times cloudy with isolated rainshowers and thunderstorms, it added.

Light to moderate winds blowing from the southwest will prevail over Luzon and Visayas and coming from the south and southwest over Mindanao.

Coastal waters throughout the archipelago will be slight to moderate except during thunderstorms
